2006/3/28 Calling it quitsI quit. This trimester will be my last at QANTM college. The course that I was going to be completing there was a Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment majoring in animation. I have not yet officially quit yet but I know it and my parents know it so all I have to do is let QANTM know now which will probably be done after a bit of sleeping. Why am I quitting? Well, I was sitting in a lecture on the Monday prior to having my wisdom teeth out. I was watching the lecturer demonstrate what we would be doing in our 3.5hr tutorial the next day when I suddenly had the following... conversation if you likie, take place in my mind: Q: What are you doing here? Me: Getting an education Q: In what? Me: 3D animation Q: Why? Me: So I can get a job Q: And do you really want a job doing this? Me: ... Over the next few days I thought it over and I really could not and can not see myself sitting in front of a computer all day everyday doing 3D animation. Any of you that know me are probably thinking "WHAT THE FRENCH!?!? Seto NOT on a computer for a career??" but if you think it through, it will make sense. Much as I love working with computers (frustrating as they are at all times), I don't spend all my time just using them. I get great satisfaction out of maintaining them, upgrading them and managing them. I think my HOME network of 9 computers for 4 people speaks for itself pretty well. Many of you who talk to me will know this to be true what with my constant talk of not enough computers or wanting to buy some sort of hardware for some computer that you never even knew I had. From what I understand, many of you are probably sick of it but I thrive on it. Just last night I was up utnil 3am trying to get something going on Panther, my test server. So, with all that in mind, what I AM going to do is continue working part time as I am at the moment and either mid-year or at the start of next year, I am going to be studying a Diploma of I.T. in network management. This will most likely be done at TAFE. I may also enroll in a short course at the Bible college at my church (Citipointe COC) in Bible study. Anyway, that's all there is to report so far.
